SHIT it’s been forever since i’ve been on this blog. i’m gonna do some revamping and stuff but it’s a work in progress, since i’m so good at procrastinating:)
in the meantime, i’ll still be doing some posts, and i’ve got a few really good ones picked out.
today i’ll keep it short and sweet because i’m on a bit of a time crunch, butthought i’d do one on my most favorite products. i’ve done “top 5’s” which are my favorite products of the moment, but that always changes since i always find way better stuff to replace it. however, these products are products that haven’t ever been replaced and will always remain a “must have” item in my book:)
1. Redkin Thickening Lotion
THE BEST THING I’VE EVER USED. since i’ve had my hair cut, my hair always feels so thin. it was weird at first since i’ve always had really thick hair, so when i started messing with the new cut, i realized it was really too thin to do the things i wanted to do with it. until i found this. it makes my hair super thick with very little product. and i mean very little. (too much tends to make it look greasy.) I apply it right after i towel dry my hair, then blow-dry and i’m good to go. i’ve never found another product that can make my hair seem so much thicker with so little product. and it looks natural, not like there is a ton of product in it:)
2. MAC “Sushi Flower”
This was a hard color to work with, and i’ve heard a lot of people say that it’s not worth having. However, i really disagree. It’s a Satin finish, but to me it looks more matte than anything. it is kinda hard to blend and because of that it’s been in the back of my make up drawer for about a year. until about 6 months ago, i never knew what to pair it with. i don’t know what i was thinking becuase there are soooo many ways that i use this. it does take awhile to get used to but once i found the right colors to go with it i was using it in no time. i tend to like it better with more neutral colors, like “naked lunch,” and i did “blanc type” the other day. it’s easy to make dramatic (by addng “carbon”) or suttle (by ading “espresso”) i really think people need one great pink, and this is definitely my choice!
3. MUF Aqua Eyes in “Turquoise” (7L)
i used to hate blue, until i broke down and bought this because the color is phenominal. since it’s a lighter hue of blue, it really makes my eyes “pop” and adds the perfect amount of color. now, aside from the color, i like the actual product as well. it’s great in any color, really. it doesn’t crease and it stays put all day. i reall don’t like using legit pencil form eyeliners and prefer a more creamy consistancy, and this is perfect. i’m really picky with my cream liners being too “liquid” but this is the perfect balance from solid to liquid. it’s consistancy is comparable to Urban Decay’s 24/7 liner, but the MUF one stays on all day. sold.
4. Clinique “Oily Skin Formula” Mild Face Wash
my skin is like an oil slick, literally. i’ve tried those little skindinavia sprays and i think it made it worse. i’d been using a clinique lotion and that alone was helpin, but when i went in to buy another all they had was the oily one, so i thought, why not? (Sephora’s rerturn policy makes me say “why not” a little too often) i love it. it really does what it says it does: stops oil. i don’t know if it legit stops the oil production, but when my make up can stay on all day without getting shiny, i really don’t care how they do it. it’s a mix between a foaming wash and one that doesn’t foam, because it doesn’t get FOAMY, but it gets bubbly. as with all clinique products, there is no smell and it’s hypoallergenic, another plus for my severly sensitive skin. however, it does leave a bit of a tingle that some people don’t like. it’s not a bad tingle, it’s a clean feeling tingle. and it if takes a tingle for me to know that it’s working, i’ll take it!
5. MAC “Bare Study” Paint Pot
recently, ive had some weird obsession with paint pots. i think it’s because when i don’t feel like doing my make up, i can slide this over my lids and still look complete. depending on the color, they look like an eyeshadow and don’t need anything else added to it. i tend to go for the ones with a little bit of subtle shimmer, just so i don’t HAVE to add something else, but i’ve tried both and they are so worth it. it can also intensify an eyeshadow, though i haven’t really found any mac shadows that need to be intensified for my skin tone, but with cheaper shadows it really increases longitivity and pigmentation. they’re a bit pricey at $16.50, but they last forever. i’ve had 4 of mine f over 2 years, and they’re just as creamy as day one.
6. Buxom by Bare Essentials “Stay-There” Eyeshadows in “Cocker Spaniel”
these ar extremely hard to describe. they aren’t soild but they aren’t cream, and they kinda feel like a….marshmallow? when i go to dip my finger in it it literally feels like nothing is on my finger. i guess that’s what bare essencials is known for; creating things that are natural. and that’s why i was so drawn to this collection. they’re super light weight and made from all natural ingredients meaning no nasty little chemicals are going onto my precious eyes. without a primer, these crease so make sure if you’re going to use them that a primer (like Urban Decay’s Primer Potion, or a Paint Pot!) is applied. Cocker Spaniel looks like a light beige-y color in the pot, but when i swatched it it was a light color with pink duochrome. and it’s gorgeous. a little goes a long way and it’s incredibly buildable. i wish i would have known that before i applied so much! the only complaint i have with it, is that it’s starting to pull away from the pot and dry up, but since i’ve been tightening it better i haven’t had any furthur dryness.
7. MAC 217 Brush
Last but definitely not least, we have MAC’s 217 brush. I honestly don’t know what i used before this brush. it’s a blending brush by name, but does SO much more. it’s really good for smoking out eyeshadows and blending them to create the perfect ‘smokey eye’ look. i have a few of them so i always have one clean because i found when i didn’t have one clean, i didn’t know what to do. NYX’s professional crease brush is a similar comparission, the only difference is it’s shorter, and i guess my heart is set on MAC and that is where it’ll always be. If i had to have one brush, i would choose this over and over again:)
